Hari OM!
We are glad to inform you all that we made significant progress in developing Chinmaya Hamsavāhini building plan. Thank you very much for your continued support and encouragement. We appreciate your contributions and help in building our new home. Looking forward to your continued support.

Here is a brief update on the building activities:
  1. We have finalized floor and elevation plans as shown in the pictures. Highlights of the floor plan include:
    1. Single floor (ranch type) – approximately 13,680 sf. of total built area
    2. 10 Classrooms with windows
    3. 2 Acharya quarters
    4. Dining area – approximately 2000 sf.
    5. Prayer area – approximately 4270 sf. It includes: altar area of approximately 150 sf. and stage area of approximately 20 x 30 (600 sf.).
    6. Tornado protection: approximately 700 sf: Classrooms 4 & 5 in the floor plan
    7. Next Steps: Architect review and building plan blue print development
  2. We signed an agreement with Austin Engineering for civil engineering and land surveying services for the site on which our new home will be built. Deliverables include:
    1. 2-dimensional site plan that considers City of Peoria’s zoning code and requirements
    2. Site and grading plans
    3. Construction plans that consider floor and site elevations, parking and drive approach grades & dimensions, and site utility design
    4. Coordination with building architect for public water, sanitary, sewage, location of private utilities, and soil erosion control plan
    5. Prepare, submit, and secure permits from: (i) Illinois EPA Sanitary and Storm (NOI and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan); and (ii) City of Peoria for Erosion and Zoning Certificate
  3. An order for a four-foot marble Mūrty of Goddess Saraswati has been placed with Satyam Marble Arts, Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. An exhibit of the statue will be published as soon as it becomes available.
  4. We obtained approvals from the State of Illinois for Chinmaya Mission Peoria to be recognized as a not for profit organization. We are in the process of getting tax-exempt status for CMP from IRS. We will continue to operate this way until CMP has tax-exempt status as subsidiary under Chinmaya Mission Chicago. Our current effort is to get tax-exempt status for CMP on its own as a legal entity registered as not for profit organization in the State of Illinois.
  5. Next Steps:
    1. Evaluate potential lenders/banks for loan.
    2. Perform Bhūmi pooja at the site on March 3, 2018. We will be publishing details as soon as they are finalized.
